In the Strategies for Managing Total Cost of Care Skills Lab, we provided an overview of the diverse components and drivers of Total Cost of Care (TCOC). Webinar attendees learned:
- How to identify and prioritize the key drivers of TCOC growth, including the role of contracts, network design/adequacy, and cost management strategies—and how these factors affect access, care management, and outcomes
- How to measure and monitor potentially avoidable utilization (avoidable admissions, readmissions, and emergency department visits), understand root causes, and connect these events to downstream TCOC and outcomes
- How different stakeholders define and use TCOC, and how TCOC analytics can inform policy and strategy by incorporating value-based care dynamics, payer and provider approaches, network factors, and community/social determinants
